The gable house is widely chosen for its inexpensive cost, and the ability to reproduce it. Also it is a very clean and easy design. It repels snow and water well in our climate. With the gable roof being taller, more space is available in the attic. Some cons of the gable house are being very prone to wind, also it's usually steep. Also if it isn't built correctly, the roof can collapse due to heavy winds or rain. If there is an overhang with the roof, wind can uplift it off of the house or break a piece of the roof off.
